A 3D city relief frame is a handcrafted wall art piece that reproduces the real street layout, parks, and topography of a specific city as a raised three-dimensional surface. Each piece is produced using LiDAR elevation data and high-resolution cartography, then 3D-printed from biodegradable PLA and mounted in a premium wooden frame.
Unlike flat prints or generic maps, a city relief captures actual building footprints, river contours, and terrain variation at a scale you can see and touch. Urban Frames offers three sizes — Compact (11 x 11 cm), Detailed (23 x 23 cm), and Collector (50 x 50 cm) — each available in black, white, or natural wood finishes. Every frame is made to order in our Bucharest studio, making it a personal, meaningful gift for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings, or anyone with a deep connection to a particular place.

How long does shipping take?
Because each Urban Frames relief is 3D-printed from biodegradable PLA to precisely fit the selected solid wood frame, delivery typically takes up to 10 business days from order confirmation. This includes production, hand-finishing, framing, premium gift packaging, and shipping. After dispatch, you receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. We ship worldwide from our Bucharest atelier — standard shipping costs 50 RON within Romania and the EU. Orders over 1,000 RON within the EU qualify for free shipping. Contact us before ordering if you need a firm delivery date for a special occasion.
Do you offer custom city reliefs?
Yes, Urban Frames specialises in custom 3D city relief sculptures and can create a piece for any city in the world. Our Bucharest studio, founded in 2023, uses high-resolution cartographic data to faithfully render streets, parks, and urban structure. You can order from our existing collection of six cities or contact us for a custom design. Reliefs are available in three sizes: 11×11 cm (Compact) in a 13.5×13.5 cm frame, 23×23 cm (Detailed) in a 25.2×25.2 cm frame, and 50×50 cm (Collector's Edition) in a 52×52 cm frame. Custom orders are discussed individually and production time may vary slightly.
What materials do you use?
Our city reliefs are 3D-printed from high-quality biodegradable PLA (polylactic acid), a plant-derived material sourced primarily from cornstarch or sugarcane — durable, safe, and environmentally friendly. The PLA we use offers exceptional print detail, making it possible to faithfully render the urban structure of each city down to individual streets and buildings. The frame is crafted from premium wood available in three finishes: natural, white, and black. The combination of 3D-printed relief and wood frame creates a refined aesthetic suitable for modern homes and office spaces. Each product page specifies exact dimensions and available finishes.
Can I return or exchange my order?
We offer a 30-day return policy for unused items returned in their original condition and packaging. If for any reason you are not satisfied, contact us within 30 days of delivery to initiate the return process. Refunds are processed after we receive and inspect the product. Custom orders — reliefs made for a specific city or configuration at the customer's request — are not eligible for return unless there is a manufacturing defect or an error on our part. If a product arrives damaged or different from your order, we will replace or fully refund it regardless of whether it is standard or custom.
How do I care for my city relief sculpture?
Your 3D city relief requires minimal care and no special treatments. The most important thing is to keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight, as extended UV exposure can affect the colour of the PLA material over time. Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity, especially for the wooden frame. For cleaning, use a soft brush to gently remove dust from the fine grooves of the relief — a brush reaches between streets and buildings where a cloth cannot. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. The premium wood frame benefits from occasional application of furniture polish to maintain its finish and protect the wood.
